This correspondence, together with other relevant documents, has been edited and annotated by Jean-Jacques Nattiez and is now available for the first time in English in a paperback edition. From the Back Cover Between May 1949 and August 1954 the composers Pierre Boulez and John Cage exchanged a series of remarkable letters which reflect on their own music and the music and culture of the time. To this correspondence a further letter from 1962 has been added together with various other documents, including an unpublished lecture given by Boulez on Cage's music for prepared piano.
