The author presents a complete re-edition of previously published and an edition of hitherto unpublished Middle-Babylonian legal deeds excavated in the Syrian kingdom of Alalah (Tell Acana), including new copies of all cuneiform tablets (chapter IV). This (re-)edition serves as a basis for the analytical core of the study, the examination of the various forms of last wills, marriage contracts, debt instruments etc., supplemented by prosopographical studies to clarify the relations and dependencies of the protagonists (chapter III). The study is also provided with an overview of the text corpus of Middle-Babylonian texts from Alalah focussing on the manifold lists (chapter II).
